Wot's this?

Two of the world's greatest players were
spotted deep in conversation under the
flagpole during the recent Victoria versus
Tasmania test series at our club.
They were Scotland's Graeme Archer, the
world's eighth ranked player, and Australian
hero Kelvin Kerkow.
Graeme was fresh from his gold and silver
medals skipping the Scottish four and triple
at the recent Atlantic Championships in
Cyprus, while ironically, Kelvin has also
recently competed in the rich televised
Premier League event on Foxtel, at the
Athena Beach Resort, in Cyprus.
It was in his role as national selector that
Kelvin spent a couple of days on our banks,
while the rumour mill is suggesting that
Graeme's visit was a reconnaissance mission
with a view of finding a new bowls home
downunder?
We hope he liked what he saw - most of us
saw him play in last year's World Cup
singles at Warilla on TV where he hammered
every opponent, including Aussies Leif Selby
and Brett Wilkie, but sadly a couple of
nasty ends in the second set of the final
saw him finish with a sliver medal. Still,
winning silver in a world singles
championship is a pretty fair effort.
